Barbara J. (Brown) Spettle, 79, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family.
She was born January 2, 1939 in Monroeville, Ohio, to the late Anthony J. and Amanda E. (Lieber) Brown, and was a graduate of Monroeville High School.
Barbara was raised and married in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, Ohio, and worked as a secretary at St. Paul Catholic Church, and Saint Paul High School. Barbara retired in 2002 from the Huron County Human Services Child Support Agency.
She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading, and working any kind of puzzle. Her greatest joys came from spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 60 years, James C. Spettle of Norwalk, Ohio, by her children, James (Melissa) Spettle of Norwalk, Ohio, Daniel (Kathy) Spettle of Monroeville, Ohio, David Spettle of Norwalk, Ohio, Debra (Craig) Moffit of Norwalk, Ohio, and Jill (Bryan) Stone of Wellington, Ohio.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brett (Ashley) Sawyer, Melissa (Marshae) Sawyer, Brian (Rachel) Preston, Erin Johnson, Ashley (Brent) Thompson, Angela (Kevin) Moffit, Amanda (John) Moffit, Hannah (Jeremy) Rogers, Jake (Joy) Spettle, and Marcus Clark, and by 12 great grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Bores, Mary Schaffer, and Alice Bookmeyer, and by her brothers, Irvin Brown.
Friends may call on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Church Street, Monroeville, Ohio. Rev. Ron Schock will officiate.
