Thomas R. Raftery, 70, of Norwalk, Ohio, went to be with his Lord on December 14, 2018, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.
He was born July 17, 1948 in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Richard and Marie (Brown) Raftery, and was a lifelong area resident.
Tom worked at Bellevue Manufacturing for 11 years, and followed in the footsteps of his Dad, and Uncles working at New Departure for 30 years as a Millwright. He also served as the Sexton of St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Tom enjoyed working around the family farm, and mowing his yard.
He will be missed dearly by his brothers and sisters, Catherine Raftery, William (Bev) Raftery, Diane (Rick) Hicks, Elizabeth Gravenhorst, and David (Betsy) Raftery.
Tom is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his twin sister, Mary, at birth, and by his brother in law, Tom (Suds) Gravenhorst.
Friends may call on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1322 Settlement Road, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
