Paul E. Temple Sr., age 81, of Norwalk, went to Heaven to join the love of his life, Betty, Sunday morning, October 16, 2011 at Elyria Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 19, 1930 in Lorain to the late Henry and Marie (Rulf) Temple. He was a 1948 graduate of Clearview High School then served six years in the Ohio National Guard Reserves. He lived in Elyria and worked at C.E. Olsen Manufacturing. He later worked for Columbia Gas where he was transferred to Norwalk in 1960, retiring in 1968. With his wife, Betty, they owned and operated Temple Florist in Norwalk as he continued working for the Johnson Corporation and Emro Marketing until 1977. He was a driver for the Senior Enrichment Services and Cardinals Grocery. He was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
He was an avid player of softball and hardball and involved with a men’s softball league for many years, where he played, managed a traveling team, coached and was known for his love of pitching and dart ball. He enjoyed woodworking with his wife and was well known for his warm heart and character as witnessed by his love for animals. He most enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Alex Belisle of Bronx, NY and Lynn and Buz Bronner of Huron; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Maria Temple II of Norwalk; grandchildren, Jason Belisle, Danielle Belisle, William Palmer, Christopher (Jessica) Palmer, Brent (Christa) Bronner, Thomas (Jodi) Temple and Paul Temple III; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Wingard) Temple on January 28, 2002; and his loving brothers and sisters.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, also Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk. The Rev. Fred Wiechers, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
