Mary "Sue" (Bauman) Schindley

Mary "Sue" (Bauman) Schindley, 72, recently of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 28 at her home at the Waterford at Levis Commons.

She was born October 20, 1946 to the late John Douglas and late Anna Mae (Pflieger) Bauman and lived most of her life in Norwalk, Ohio.

Sue was a devoted wife to her husband of 51 years, James F. Schindley, and was broken hearted when he died on August 1, 2017. Sue was very proud to report that they never spent a night away from each other. They did everything together and, in their last season of life, found great enjoyment in walking their Golden Retriever, Lucy, going out to favorite restaurants for dinner, and always giving in to the craving for ice cream at the nearest ice cream stand.

Sue is survived by her children James D. (Whitney) Schindley of Franklin, TN, sister Sharon (Bauman) Charville who passed away March 1, 2018, Christine M. (Kevin) Fishel of Cincinnati, OH, David K. Schindley of Norwalk, OH, Angela R. (David) Malear, and her daughter in-law Erica Schindley of Huron, OH, in addition to 12 grandchildren-Kelsielyn, Alex, Craig, Gabby, Michaela, Drew, Isaiah, Lauren, Mason, Bailey, Christin, and Emma. She is also survived by her siblings, Neil K. (Marcia) Robinson, of Norwalk, OH, Kenneth (Linda) Robinson of Milford, NH, and Michael (Theresa) Robinson of Norwalk, OH. She was preceded in death by her

Sue graduated from Norwalk High School in 1964, and worked as a warehouse clerk at Columbia Gas for most of her adult years. She helped support her family of 4 children by starting her own business, Sue's Cake Shop, baking and decorating the birthday, graduation, and wedding cakes of many Norwalk residents. She lovingly made platters of Christmas cookies every winter for those close to her. Sue was an active volunteer at St. Alphonsus Parish where she led the popular Mother-Daughter Tea which she looked forward to ever year, served comforting meals to loved ones following funerals, and stitched stockings to fill with encouragement for local shut-ins. Sue loved to quilt and sat in a quilting circle with dear friends to create the hand-stitched quilts raffled off annually at the St. Alphonsus Parish Festival. Many of her quilts won first prize at the Huron County Fair, and all of her children and grandchildren have been gifted with these treasures over the years.

Sue and her husband enjoyed traveling to Alaska with their sons' families, on multiple bus trips with their friends, and twice to Medjugorje, Bosnia with their church family, where their faith and relationships were deepened. She loved country music and was a huge fan of the Texas Tenors.

Sue looked forward to joining in heaven those she loved in this life, especially her mother, her husband Jim, and her sister Sherri. Surely the sisters are up to their antics again, playing cowboys by roping pigs and flirting with their rejuvenated and handsome husbands.
