Marc Laurent Coiffard, 78, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 13, 2019 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
Marc was born on February 8, 1941 in Barbezieux Charente, France to the late Marc and Raymonde (Lamaud) Coiffard.
Marc was raised in Angouleme, France. He met his wife, Ingrid, and they were married May 15, 1964 in Germany and both moved to America in April 1965. Marc had studied engineering in France, and retired from Sandusky International as a general foreman after 25 years of service. He was a Veteran of the French Navy. Marc was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky Mason's Lodge 329, the former IAB Club and the Concordia Soccer Club in Olmsted Township. Marc enjoyed playing soccer, and played semi-pro at age 16 in France. He was one of the founders of the Bay Area Soccer League. Marc enjoyed reading history, traveling overseas and spending time with his family and friends.
Marc is survived by his wife, Ingrid (Krieger) Coiffard. He is also survived by his two sons, Gerard (Dawn) Coiffard of Newport, MI and Patrick Coiffard of Sandusky; grandchildren, Malayna, Christine, Natalie, Nicholas, Jessica, Nicole, Jay, Alexa and Anthony; great-grandchildren, Layla, Royce, Jaiden, Jordyn, Douglas and Arianna; sister, Pierrette (Christian) Peronnet of France; brother, Jacques (Odette) Coiffard of France and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Marc is preceded in death by his sisters, Jacqueline Bouffatique and Jany Clement; brother, Gerard Coiffard; granddaughter, Nicole.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 10:00 am until time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Deacon Phil Dinovo will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
