Larry Edgar Parsons, 72, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Larry was born on October 11, 1946 in Fremont, OH to Edgar and Elizabeth (Swedersky) Parsons.
In his youth, Larry was one of the top pitching prospects in the area. He graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1964 and entered the National Guard. Larry worked for the Erie Army Depot and was an apprentice at NASA Sandusky Plumbrook Station before retiring in 2004 from New Departure after 35 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Sandusky VFW, American Legion, AMVETS and the Eagles.
In his spare time, Larry enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, visiting casinos and taking care of the squirrels who frequently visited his backyard. He was also an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
Larry's greatest joy was his family especially his children and grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marcia (Westcott) Parsons whom he married on April 26, 1975; mother, Elizabeth (Swedersky) Parsons; daughter, Stefanie (Brian) Kingsborough of Castalia; 2 sons, Kristofer (Rachel) Parsons of Sandusky and Jeff Parsons of Arizona; 2 grandchildren, Ashlyn and Kallon Kingsborough of Castalia; sister, Sandy Parsons-Fox of Fremont; sister-in-law, Valerie Kalo of Maumee; 2 brothers-in-law, Steve (Dianne) Westcott of Castalia and Paul (Pat) Westcott of Tipp City and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives.
Larry is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Maurice Parsons and sister, Sharon Coleman.
Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870.
Memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 11 am. A private burial will take place in Castalia Cemetery at a later date.
