Wayne H. Miller

Wayne H. Miller, age 87, of Castalia, passed away Monday morning, February 25, 2019, at The Willows at Bellevue, following a brief illness.

He was born February 18, 1932, in Sandusky, and graduated from Margaretta High School in 1950; where he was a proud member of the last 6-man football team and was the sports editor of the Polar Press.

He then served as staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Bitberg, Germany, as a radar technician, from 1952 - 1955, during the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia. Wayne was an avid sports fan of Margaretta, Ohio State, Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, and the Cleveland Indians, and he also was a proud supporter of The Ohio State Marching Band. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, photography, gardening, and target shooting.

He is survived by his two daughters Nancy (Jim) Johnson, Castalia, and Karen (Doug) Perry, Laingsburg, MI; grandchildren Holly (John) German, Vermilion, Zachary (Stephanie) Miller, Sandusky, Stephen (Kelly) Johnson, Elyria, Melanie (Andy) Hawley, Galloway, Matthew (Marah Jackson) Perry, Laingsburg, MI, and Benjamin Perry, Lansing, MI; great grandchildren Hannah and Aiden Miller, Layne, Wyatt, and Caleb German, Dylan and Dawson Popke, Kolton Miller, and Asher Johnson; and sister Marilyn (Cletus) Kanney, New Washington.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Martha (Ayle) Miller; son David Miller, parents Harry and Dorothy (Martin) Miller; and brother Jim Miller.

Friends may call from 4-7 PM Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 2 PM. Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
