Eugene “Gene” Kemper, 64, a resident of the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born December 28, 1946 in Elyria and was a 1965 graduate of Elyria High School. Gene was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Thew Shovel and Invacare. Gene was a member of the American Legion, Post 83, he liked to bowl and fish, and was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan.
He is survived by two sisters: Joanne Lee of Sandusky and Betty (Bill) Knapp of New London, one brother: William “Bill” Kemper of Amherst, four nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother: Gerald “Jerry” Kemper, his parents: Leroy and Arline (Rainey) Kemper and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Friends may call Monday from 11:00 AM until time of Mititary Service at 11:30 AM in the Giffin Chapel of the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Chaplain Paul Birmingham will officiate. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery. Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
