Nick Charles Tornichio, 94, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, April 10, 2019 at Stein Hospice Care Center.
Nick was born on November 12, 1924 in Crestline, OH to the late Joseph and Virginia (Gear) Tornichio.
Nick was a 1942 graduate from Crestline High School. He was a Veteran of the US Marines. He retired from New Departure after 41 years of service. Nick was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the American Legion, AMVETS and the NRA. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, painting, gardening and landscaping.
Nick is survived by his two sons, Michael (Mary) Mingus and Larry (Janet) Mingus both of Sandusky; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Patricia Hart; brother, Frank Tornichio and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Nick is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Harding) Mingus-Tornichio on January 7, 2018; daughter, Debra; sisters, Josephine and Anna Marie Blubaugh and brothers, John and Joe.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor David Hixson will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
