June Amelia (Stanley) Thomas, 85, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Cleveland Clinic Foundation after a brief illness.
June was born on May 28, 1933 in Sandusky, OH to the late Lee H. Stanley and Katherine E. (Greene) Wood.
June received a Bachelor's of Education from Capital University and retired from teaching in the Perkins Schools in 1986 after 30 years of service. June was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Erie County Association of Retired Teachers and the AAUW. June enjoyed crocheting, traveling, playing bingo, spending time with her adoptive grandchildren, family and friends.
June is survived by her sisters, Jenny De (Alvin) LaCruz and Sharon Elam-Reeves; friend, Margaret Harvey and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, June is preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Thomas in 1998; brother, James Wood; step-father, Myron Wood and nephew, Timothy Thomas in 2016
Friends may call on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 10:00 am until time of funeral services at 11:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Rev. Dr. Eric Bodenstab will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
