Rachel Lorrene (Burns) Hemmer, 87, residing in Milan, passed away early Sunday morning, April 21, 2019 at Continuing Healthcare of Milan after a lengthy illness.
Rachel was born on April 16, 1932 in Newton, WV to the late Ola and Opal (Simmons) Burns.
Rachel was employed at Philco for 12 years and retired from Tenneco, formerly Clevite in Milan in 1994 after 30 years of service. She was a member of Edison Memorial United Methodist Church.
Rachel is survived by her niece, Jackie Ogle of Sandusky, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Rachel is preceded in death by her husband, Junior Frederick Hemmer in 2006; brothers, William, Ronald "Jack", Peter, and Jimmie Burns and sister, Eula Curtis.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory Milan Chapel, 1 S. Main St., Milan. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2019 at 11:00 am at Edison Memorial United Methodist Church, 10 E. Church St., Milan. Pastor Barbara Stephens-Rich will officiate. Burial will follow in Milan Cemetery, Milan.
