Jeffrey A. "Stymie" Smith

Jeffrey A. "Stymie" Smith, 65, of Marion, OH and formerly of Sandusky, died Sunday morning, April 28, 2019 in OhioHealth Hospice, Marion, after a lengthy illness.

He was born on March 16, 1954 to the late Eugene N. Smith and Janet M. (Wentz) Smith.

A 1972 graduate of St. Mary's High School, he then served in the United States Navy. Stymie was a skilled laborer, working various jobs, including auto mechanic and carpentry.

He loved to be outside, and was often on the lake, fishing or boating. He loved NASCAR. But most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandkids.

Stymie is survived by his children, Amberlee (Chad) Michel, Jonathon (Tonya) Smith, Amanda Smith, and Jennifer Babisak; grandchildren, Chloe, Peyton, and Malaki Smith, and Jaleh and Chad Sullivan; brothers, Michael N. Smith and James R. Smith; sisters, Jean A. (Michael) Corbin, Marsha L. Koch, and Sandra M. McNutt; and many other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald L. Smith; and nephew, Michael S. Corbin.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery with the American Legion Post 83 Color Guard providing military honors.
