James Phillip Mischler, 43, lovingly known as JP or Mikey, of Bay View, died unexpectedly Monday, May 27, 2019, at home.
He was born January 3, 1976, to James R. and Sandra (Butts) Crayton, who both preceded him in death. J
P graduated from Margaretta High School in 1994 and stayed in Bay View afterwards to help his father with his tool and die business. He continued mowing many of the yards around the village, as he had done in his high school years. More recently, he was employed at American Quality Stripping in Sandusky.
JP had a big heart and would help anyone who asked. He had a soft spot for stray animals and always had a great smile. He spent a lot of his time recently working on his childhood home when he had time after his job. He will be missed by those in the village who watched him grow up.
He is survived by his son Nicolas Thurston of Sandusky; sisters Dana (Marc) Englund of Bellevue, and Allene Eek of Michigan; sister-in-law Lisa Butts of Clyde; brothers Brian (Anne) Severs, and David Severs, both of Columbus; aunts Judy Arheit, Darlene Brooks, and Carol Lazara, all of Sandusky; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Randy Butts, an uncle Dave Butts, maternal grandparents Leroy and Betty Butts, and paternal grandparents Jack and Dorothy Mischler.
A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, June 2, 2019, from 2 PM until time of memorial service at 4 PM at Ransom Funeral and Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Back to the Wild, Box 423, Castalia, OH 44824, or to the Humane Society of Erie Co., 1911 Superior St., Sandusky, OH 44870.
