Shirley (Kopp) Harrison, 83, of Castalia and formerly of Wellington, passed away on Thursday morning, June 13, 2019 with family by her side in Parkvue Health Care Center in Sandusky following a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
She was born to Russell, Sr. and Alice Kopp on November 3, 1935 in Shamokin, PA, and later the family moved to Elyria, where she attended Elyria High School.
She married Gene Harrison in 1979, where they joined their families to be one in Wellington. She was employed for many years at the GM Fisher-Guide Plant in Elyria, and retired in 1990 to spend time with her family. Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, baking, working in her garden, and planting flowers. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren, who she was immensely proud of and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories for them to cherish.
Shirley is survived by her eight children, Glenn (Darlene) Diederich, of Las Vegas, NV, Scott (Cheryl) Diederich of Castalia, OH, Cindy (Richard) Waisganis, of Mt Prospect, IL; Jeffrey (Misti) Diederich, of West Salem, OH; Dawn (Drew) Skolnicki, of Elyria, OH, Scott Harrison, of Rochester Township, OH, Robert (Tina) Harrison, of Elyria, OH, and Michael Harrison, of Elyria, OH; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harlan, Kenneth, and Carl Kopp; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Gene Harrison; grandson, Corey Diederich; parents, Russell and Alice Kopp; and siblings, Eugene, Alan, Vincent, Owen, Russell Kopp, Jr., and Glady Janusyewski.
It was Shirley's wish to be cremated. The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life gathering that will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's name to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
