Forester Finley, 80, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, June 21, 2019 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Forester was born on January 21, 1939 in Manchester, KY to the late Newton Finley and Mary (Sibert) Smith.
Forester retired from Ford Motor Company in 1987 after 30 years of service, he was also the owner and operator of Finley Siding for over 40 years. He was a member of the UAW Local 1216, Car Coddlers, Crown Victoria Association, Erie County Democratic Party and the Thursday and Friday Breakfast Club. He enjoyed his annual fishing and hunting trips, classic cars, collecting automobile memorabilia, swapmeets and spending time with his family and friends.
Forester is survived by his wife, Lola Marie (Sibert) Finley, whom he married on February 25, 1956. He is also survived by his three daughters, Cheryl (Ken LaMarca) Finley of Marblehad, Cynthia (Ted Garvin) Finley of Castalia and Camelia (Jim) Easton of Fort Meyers, FL; son, Glen (Kim) Finley; grandchildren, Jason Dreschel, Jamie Kennedy, Tyson Pengov, Danielle Pengov, Brittany Henley, Babe Finley and Beau Finley; great-grandchildren, Macy, Jaret, Miah, Lili, Mason, Kamden, Hailey, Phoebe, Kiersen, Jayla and Max; great-great granddaughter, Eloise; sisters, Joyce (Pete) Byington, Jan (Larry) Mingus and Harriet Finley; brother, Melvin Finley and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Forester is preceded in death by his step-father, Thomas Smith; sisters, Rose Lawton and Ali Miller; brother, Wendell Finley and special friend, James Taylor.
Friends may call on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 11:00 am at Faith Memorial Church, 1320 E. Strub Rd., Sandusky. Pastor Jim Gregory will officiate.
