Joseph M. Gildenmeister, 46, residing in Sandusky, our beloved father, son, brother, and friend was called home Tuesday morning, July 23, 2019 after a brave fight against kidney disease and cancer.
Joe was born on December 30, 1972 in Sandusky, OH to Robert Gildenmeister and Judy (Teeman) Gildenmeister.
A lifelong resident of Sandusky, he was a friend to many. He loved music and was a fantastic guitar player. Joe loved to play golf and spend time hanging out with family and friends. Joe faced life with a contagious smile.
Joe is survived by his daughters, Kara Lynn and Allysen Reese Gildenmeister; mother, Judy; father, Robert; brother, Jason Gildenmeister; aunt, Jackie Teeman; step-mother, Marylin Gildenmeister; former wife, Tara Mulvin; numerous uncles, cousins and friends, and we cannot forget his cat, Dewey.
Joe survived a dual transplant (liver and kidney) in 2013 and fought a hard battle to maintain his health afterward. The medical staff at the Cleveland Clinic went above and beyond to ensure his quality of life.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 10:00 am. Rev. Ric Babcock will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
Those wishing to contribute to Joe's memory may do so to the Gildenmeister Family Memorial Fund, c/o Civista Bank, 100 E. Water St., Sandusky, OH 44870 or any local Civista branch.
