Shirley A. (Ferdinandsen) Smith, 93, residing in Huron and formerly of Castalia, peacefully passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at The Meadows at Osborn Park surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born on July 21, 1926 in Sandusky, OH to the late Olaf and Marjorie (Ward) Ferdinandsen.
Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, loved cooking, especially her baked beans dish, listening and singing country music, playing bingo and trips to Atlantic City.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Thomas) Browne of Sandusky and Brenda (Richard) Rotsinger of Huron; grandchildren, Kevin (Rachel Smith) Smith of Tiffin, Jeff and David Smith both of Berlin Heights, Eric (Alicia Hawkins) Smith of Toledo, Lisa (Al) Rodriguez of Elyria, Kenneth (Suzanne) Browne of MD, Mary (David) Johnson of Sandusky and Joseph (Stephanie) Rotsinger of MI; 21 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sister, Pat (Frank Trautman) Dubois of Sandusky; brother, Jack Ferdinandsen of Sandusky and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Smith in 2002; son, Joseph "Joey" Smith Jr in 2011; grandson, Gregory Browne in 1998; sisters, Betty Cardella and Corrine Ruthsatz and brothers, Bob, Harry, and Fred "Moak" Ferdinandsen.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Meadows at Osborn Park for their support and care.
Friends may call on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor Wally Gilbert will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
