Airy B. Blakely

Airy B. Blakely 91, Sandusky, departed this life on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 while at The Meadows at Osborn Park.

She was born November 28, 1927 in Waynesboro, MS to the late John and Olar Jordan. Airy was affectionately known as "Nuke". She was the fifth child born into this union.

Airy moved to Sandusky at a very early age with her family from Waynesboro Mississippi. She was a very hard worker, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. And most importantly she was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord who lived and stood by the Holy word. Airy was a faithful member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church where she served on numerous ministries.

She worked multiple jobs during her time on earth. She retired from Barr Rubber in 1989; and during her retirement she kept herself busy by doing things for others, looking after her great grandchildren, gardening, cooking, baking and just being available for whoever whenever they needed her, she was and is loved by all who was ever fortunate to have known her. She will definitely be missed but never forgotten.

Airy leaves to forever cherish her memory her three granddaughters; Angela Rollison Sandusky, Daphne Charley, Tennessee and Stacey Rollison, Toledo; five great-grandchildren; Stephen Garrett, Rachard Wilson, Darrick Colbert, De'Angelo Rollison and Justinee Adams; Her two siblings Emerson Jordan and Vietta Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and very beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Alfonso Jordan; mother , Olar Jordan; husband, Elmer Blakely; daughter, Lessie McVay; siblings; Robert Jordan, Jim Jordan, Eloise Evans, Arthur Lee Jordan, Mattie Jenkins, Willie B. Young, Deloise Blaking and Leola Butler.

Friends may call on Friday, August 9, 2019, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Joseph Strong will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
