Valarie Ann (Smithson) Bressler
Val Bressler of Sandusky, OH, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at home with friends and family by her side.
She was born April 26, 1959 in Bellevue, OH, the daughter of Howard and Beverly (Cloud) Smithson.
She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1977 and Bowling Green State University with honors in 1981.
She spent many years as an educator, first as a business teacher at Sandusky High School and later operating her own music studio for nearly 25 years. She blessed her students with the gift of music, many of whom have continued their careers in music education.
As an active member of The Chapel, Val had a deep passion for serving the Lord through many areas of church ministry, most notably, playing the piano as part of the worship team at all three campus locations. In addition, she served diligently with the prayer ministry and as a financial counselor. Val also loved taking part in a variety of bible studies within a small group setting.
Val is survived by her husband, Rick Bressler, whom she married October 24, 1981; three children, Andrea (Rich) Cottrill of Sandusky, Monica Bressler of Columbus, and Kevin Bressler of Sandusky; two grandsons, Mason and Judah Cottrill, and her brother, Bob (Garlene) Smithson of Lima.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ronald and Roger Smithson.
Visitation will take place on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 4-7 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave., Sandusky, Ohio. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 10:30 am, at The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Road, Sandusky, Ohio. Pastor Todd Nielsen will officiate, with a luncheon immediately following. Burial will be held in Bellevue Cemetery, Bellevue.
