Debra Kay Lippert, age 65, of Sandusky, passed away on August 27, 2019, following a yearlong battle with cancer; which she faced bravely and courageously, with her husband by her side.
She was born November 13, 1953, as the youngest of eight children born to Louis and Elsie Dress.
She was raised in Marblehead, and even in to her adult years, she held a special place in heart for the family home on Poplar St., and often drove by just to remember "The good ole days".
On January 30, 1982, she married John W. Lippert. They spent 37 years together and were a true example of being a couple and there was no denying their love for each other. They faced everything together. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Including both of their fights with cancer. Always without hesitation, and as a team, showing those around them what true love really means.
Deb spent most of her adult life living just outside of Castalia and spend 32 years bartending and managing Third Base Tavern, before retiring. This allowed her to meet many great people and form long standing friendships with some great people along the way.
Deb was a voracious reader, enjoyed playing cards with John, decorating for holidays, and making crafts. All of which were a bit "extra". In her book, there was always one more thing that could be added...never enough sparkle, feathers, or driftwood. She could often be found tending to her flower gardens with a glass of cheap wine in hand, as this was her favorite place to be and something she found much enjoyment in. However nothing brought her more pleasure than being with her granddaughters.
Deb is survived by her husband John Lippert, daughter Darrah (Barry) Latham; two granddaughters Anna and Olivia, who were her pride and joy; siblings Larry Dress, Marblehead, and Sharon Mathews, TN; sister in-laws Sharon Lippert, Sandusky; mother in-law Lucille Lippert, Sandusky, to whom she had grown quite close to in recent years; and her furry companion "Lucky", who kept her company and spent many hours snuggling by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sibling Donna Badish, Dave Dress, Carolyn Slaughterbeck, Myron Dress, Terry Dress Sr.; father in-law Kenneth Lippert Sr.,; and brother in-law Kenneth Lippert Jr.
It was Deb's request to be cremated and no services will be held. A private memorial will take place at a later date. Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Back to the Wild or Stein Hospice.
