Mary Ann (Brunow) Wobser, 86, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019, in The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron, under the care of Heartland Hospice.
She was born March 13, 1933, in rural Sandusky, to Carl and Susie Brunow.
She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1951. Mary Ann retired after 28 years from J.C. Penney Company. After retirement, she worked as a cashier at Gordon Foods.
On May 15, 1954, she married the love of her life, Fred Wobser, and together they raised three children - Amy Lee, James Frederick, and Kevin Charles. This year they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where she and Fred were longtime members of the church choir. Mary taught both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, belonged to the Women's Group, and served on the Altar Committee.
Mary lived a full life. She enjoyed playing pinochle with the "card gang". She and Fred enjoyed dancing, especially square dancing. Mary loved entertaining guests and always had a fresh baked pie or homemade cookies to welcome them. She also enjoyed sewing clothes for both herself and Amy. In addition to being a seamstress, Mary enjoyed other needle crafts, camping, boating, and wintering in both Fort Myers and Auburndale, Florida. Another joy was selling her woodcraft items at area craft bazaars. Mary loved her flower and vegetable gardens and her family in Florida benefitted from her canning, especially her tomato juice.
Left to cherish her memory are husband Fred, daughter Amy (Mark) Brocco of Auburndale, Florida; son James (Jody) Wobser of Branson, Missouri; her 14 grandchildren - Wyatt (Amy) Brocco; Shayna (Justin) Burdine; Luke Brocco; Jacob Wobser; Jaclyn Horne; John (Amy) Wobser; Joseph (Danica) Wobser; Jayme (Jacob) Rouse; Jared Wobser; Justice (Anna) Wobser; Jordyn Wobser; Judson Wobser; Jeremiah Wobser; and Joel Wobser; her 12 great grandchildren - Mya, Esther, Jackson, Jude, Jaida, Noel, Clark, Ford, Piper, Grant, Alys, and Bear; sister Rose Damante and brothers Rich and Bill Brunow.
