Vernon Smith, 81, of Sandusky passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
A stubborn hillbilly with a loving and caring heart was born in Sibert, Kentucky on June 29, 1938.

His legacy of photography and videography will always be with his family in their photographs and videos he had taken. In his later years he loved to go to the casinos with his family, feed the birds and squirrels in his yard, and take care of his garden. He was talented at making wooden garden ornaments and shared them with his family and friends. He was the owner of Smith Roofing until his retirement.
Vern loved his family and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren above all else. He had a special place in his heart for his pretty baby blue parakeets and they gave him so much joy.
He is survived by one son, Ted (Val) Wilson; four daughters, Tamara (Steven) Ehrnsberger, Lynanne Heckters, Amy Sargent, and Sheryl Smith; his significant other Phyllis Frye; eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; one brother Gene Smith; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith; four sons, Bruce, Andrew, William, and David; one great grandchild, Cielo Micah Cruz; his parents, Virgil and Nervey (Sibert) Smith; three brothers, Herman Smith, Darrel Smith, and Clayton Smith; and one sister, Fredia Smith-Horn.
