Willie Brown, 76, residing in Sandusky, passed away late Thursday evening, September 19, 2019 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
Willie was born on January 16, 1943 in Paintsville, KY to the late Estill and Gracie (Scarberry) Brown.
Willie graduated from Port Clinton High School and retired from Ford Motor Company in 1990 after 26 years of service. He served in the Army Reserves and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the UAW. Willie volunteered at the Merry-Go-Round Museum as a carver. He spent a great deal of time in his workshop, making and fixing anything and everything he could. Willie loved spending time with his family and watching his grandkids' athletic and art performances.
Willie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia (Carter) Brown. He is also survived by his three daughters, Deborah Phenicie of Sandusky, Laura (David) Toth of Brunswick, OH and Jennifer (Chad) Rickard of Sandusky; six grandchildren, Brett Phenicie, Noah and Paige Toth and Will, Ben, and Zach Rickard; sister, Stella (Dennis) Beachler of Warren, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Willie is preceded in death by his sister, Cleo Mills.
Friends may call on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:30 am on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
