James A. Moore

James A. Moore, 74, of Margaretta Township, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio.

He was born on October 12, 1944 in Sandusky, Ohio, the son of the late Douglas and Helen (Funni) Moore.

Jim graduated from Sandusky High School in 1962 and retired from New Departure/Delphi as a millwright. Jim married Linda on June 9, 1978 in Castalia Grace Lutheran. Jim was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a past member of Castalia Grace. He was very active in both congregations serving on many committees and as an active member of council. In addition, Jim was a member of Eagles Aerie 444, the American Legion, and UAW Local 913 Retiree Chapter.

Jim enjoyed "rail fanning", NASCAR, and watching the Cleveland Indians, but especially enjoyed lots of fun times with family and friends. Jim enjoyed his model railroad hobby. He was a past member of the Erie Mad River Model Railroad Club and currently a director for the Division 4, Mid-Central Region of the National Model Railroad Association. As Superintendent of his own Cold Creek & Lake Erie Railroad, Jim hosted numerous operating sessions for upwards of 15 operators.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Linda Miller-Moore; children, Dawn Warner of Northwood; Robert (Johna) Warner, Bellevue; and Barry Burdue, Cleveland; grandchildren, Valerie, Melissa, Holly, Kassidy, Brett and Danielle; 5 great-grandchildren; God- daughter, Tera Scurlock Scherer; sister, Pat Drehs; sister-in-law, Connie Mellein; brother-in-law, David Miller; cousins, nieces, nephews and many close friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Betty and AI Miller.

It was Jim's wish to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 106 Scheid Road. Rev. Philip Gardner will officiate. Interment will follow later in Castalia Cemetery.

Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to the Margaretta Township Fire Department, 113 South Avenue, Castalia 44824 or Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky 44870.
