Alejo Leal, 71 Sandusky, passed away in his home Friday, October 25, 2019 after a lengthy illness.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW, where he participated in the color guard, and Amvets. He also loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, working on projects in his garage and helping out his family and friends.

He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity. Many of his friends and family thought of him as their brother. He was always there to lend a helping hand. He made sure his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren knew the meaning behind "Semper fi" by the example that he set.

He is survived by his wife Frances; children, Sharon (Paul) Medrick and Alejandro Leal; grandchildren, Lauren (Kyle) Ackerman, Paul J. and Isabella Medrick; great- grandchildren, Jack, Ava and Amelia Ackerman; brothers, Ramon (Kathy) Leal Jr., Jose Leal, Adolfo (Barb) Leal, Alejandro Leal, and Robert Leal; in laws, Eugene Schnipke, Rita Schnipke, Vernon Schnipke, Joanne Lilje, Jackie (Rick) Gundrum, Debra (Larry) Schmid, Andrew (Chris) Schnipke, and Alan (Tamie) Schnipke; and his beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Alejo was proceded in death by his sister, Odelia Long; brothers, Rocky, Fernando and one that died in infancy.

Alejo was the glue that held everyone together and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

It was Alejo's wishes to be cremated. His family will receive friends from 6 p.m. Friday Nov. 8, 2019, until a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a military salute by the Marines Forever Color Guard in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory 2001 Columbus Ave, Sandusky.
