Robert R. Kidd

Robert R. Kidd, 70, passed away on November 6, 2019 in Columbus, OH after a lengthy illness.

He was born was born on March 22, 1949 to Ivy and Mary (Swope) Kidd in Gulfport, MS and he grew up in Sandusky, OH, where he graduated from Perkins High School.

He enlisted in the Marines and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He lived in Nashville, TN until moving back to Ohio in 2014.

An extremely talented musician, Robert, or "Keyboard," as he was also known, taught himself to play the piano, organ, guitar, and drums. He played the organ for various gospel artists and churches, including Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Sandusky.

His greatest legacy he leaves are his children: Marlowe Kidd, of Charlotte, NC, Repreacth Kidd, of San Antonio, TX, Nubiyn Mzekewe, of Atlanta, GA, Tyrone Kidd, of Richmond, VA, Ian (Kenya) Kidd, of Cleveland, OH, Jabar Turner, of Sandusky, OH, Alixandra Kidd, of Columbus, OH, Alexis (John) Kidd Zaffer, of Cincinnati, OH, Toka Clark, of Sandusky, OH, and Chamron Kidd, of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Ravon Clark, Jhatanah Thomas, Dharyus Thomas, Johnathan Kidd, Repreacth Kidd, Jr., Alexandria Kidd, Zoe Kidd, Mahaley Kidd, Terrance McSween, Essence Kidd, Tyne' Kidd, Lena Kidd, Sian Kidd, Jabri Turner, Denzel Castile, Omni Turner, Tiara Castile, Samariah Castile, Tamia Davis, Charles Sallee, Britton Lanning, Jamarion Turner, Selena Lanning, Olivia Turner, Gabriel Turner, Alixandra Zaffer, Avant Keys, and Amier Amison; great-grandchildren: Yazalynn Kidd, JaeVierre Coleman, Kehlani Turner, Kingston Turner, Iyla Castile, Iyris Castile, Iydenia Castile, and Dacree Blount-Sallee. He is also survived by Pamela Kidd; brother, John (Lynda) Kidd; sisters, Carolyn Adkinson and Maxine Kidd; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Reverend Johnny Swope and Mallissa Swope; siblings, Nancy Kidd, Mary Smith-Beard, Cynthia Saunders, and David Kidd; and aunt, Sally McKinney.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. on Friday, November 15 until funeral services begin at 1 p.m. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky, OH. The American Legion Post 83 Color Guard will provide a military tribute. Burial will take place on Monday, November 18 in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH.
