Allen E. Ziegler, 79, a resident of the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky and formerly of Melmore, OH., died Wednesday evening, November 23, 2011 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.
He was born February 14, 1932 in Eden Township, Ohio and was a 1950 graduate of Melmore High School. Allen was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a life long farmer. He was a member of various veteran organizations and a former member of the Melmore Odd Fellows Lodge and Single in Agriculture.
He is survived by one daughter: Holly (Brian) Adkins of Willard, one grandson: Nicholas Adkins of Willard, one brother: Dale Ziegler of Melmore, OH., nieces, nephews and other relatives.
His family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, November 28, 2011 in the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 308 Myrtle Avenue, Willard, Ohio. On Tuesday, friends may call from 10:30 AM until time of Military Service at 11:30 AM in the Giffin Chapel of the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Chaplain Paul Birmingham will officiate. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles & Myrtle (Brause) Ziegler, one brother: Daniel Ziegler and one sister: Phyllis Neer.
