Leon "Lee" Joseph Cross, 70, residing in Sandusky, passed away Monday afternoon, January 13, 2020 at Promedica Toledo Hospital.
Lee was born on December 25, 1949 in Passaic, NJ to the late Leo and Agnes (Russin) Cross.
Lee graduated from Don Bosco High School and received his bachelors degree in environmental science from Bowling Green State University. He was Veteran of the US Air Force. Lee was a chemical engineer at Clevite and the vice president and an administrator for Goodwill. He was a member of the Firelands Autobahn Society and volunteered at Lakeside with his telescopes to educate people on astronomy. He was a amateur astronomer and loved spending time in his miniature observatory in his backyard. Lee was a naturalist and enjoyed all types of outdoor activities. He had a great eye for antiques and enjoyed re-finishing different finds.
Lee is survived by his wife, Sue (McGuire) Cross, whom he married on June 30, 1972. He is also survived by his sister, Joan (John) Muguffog of NJ and brother, Douglas (Mary) Cross of MD and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday, January 17, 2020 from 10:30 am until the time of Mass at 11:30 am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main Street, Huron. Father Jeff McBeth will officiate. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
