Miriam Elaine (Whetstone) Elias, 83, longtime resident of Sandusky since 1979, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, January 22, 2020 at Bellevue Care Center after a brief illness.
Miriam was born on January 29, 1936 in Sandusky, OH to the late William and Ina (Ziemke) Whetstone.
Miriam attended Sandusky High School and graduated from Barberton High School in 1954. She was employed as a dietary clerk at former Providence Hospital for 20 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing and watching her favorite shows. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Miriam is survived by her daughters, Michele (Sunny) Chong of Las Vegas, NV, Denise (Mark) Warner of Portage Des Sioux, MO, Lori (Doug) Hudgins of Coosada, AL and Stephanie (Jeff) Kaiser of Monroe, MI; 8 grandchildren, Brandon, Alyssa, Sheri, Marki, Tiffany, Aaron, Sarah and Evan; 3 great-grandchildren, Eugene, Evelyn and Alaina; beloved brother, Robert Whetstone of Sandusky and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Miriam is preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Groom Vassallo; sister-in-law, Marie Whetstone; nephews, Peter Groom and Tim Whetstone; and great-nephew, Cameron Baber.
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Orchard Grove Assisted Living, Bellevue Care Center and Stein Hospice for their love and care of Miriam.
