Edward C. Stallkamp, 77, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, January 24, 2020 at Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Ed was born on April 1, 1942 in Norwalk, OH to the late Edward H. and Helen (Burkholder) Stallkamp.
Ed graduated from Monroeville High School in 1960. He retired as machine repairman at General Motors in 2004 after 26 years of service. Ed was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outside, tinkering, his John Deere tractors, reading, especially history and Sunday drives. He was a prankster and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and attending their events.
Ed is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Nancy (Homan) Stallkamp, whom he married on November 1960. He is also survived by his son, Lieutenant Colonel Chris (Melissa) Stallkamp of Milan; daughters, Becky (Todd) Strickland of Bucyrus, OH and Abby (Brian) Mountain of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren: Beth, Hannah, Tori, Sami, Delaney, Jones and Tate; great-granddaughter, Olivia; sisters: Josephine (Bob) Dendinger of Bellevue, Nancy (John) Alt of Norwalk, Ruth (Melvin) Mason of Bellevue, Margaret (Clayton) Wright of Naples, FL and Mary (Dannie) Ellis of East Palistine, OH; one step-sister; four step-brothers and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his son, First Lieutenant Barry Daniel Stallkamp on May 1, 1998 and step-mother, Dorothy Stallkamp.
Friends may call on Monday, January 27, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Monte Hoyles will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Sandhill Cemetery.
