James F. Marty, 77, of Sandusky, passed away Sunday evening, February 23, 2020 in Heritage Village of Clyde after a lengthy illness.
He was born on September 16, 1942 in Sandusky to the late William and Dora (Smith) Marty.
Jim attended Sandusky High School and worked for Kroger from 1960 until retirement in 1986.
Jim was known as an extremely hard worker. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was always tinkering about the house and yard, looking for something to do. He loved to fish, dance, and he loved his cats. He always loved to help his son build derby cars. His CB handle was "Night Run." He will be deeply missed by his family, who he loved more than anything.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra (Kiser) Marty, whom he married on September 24, 1960; children, Belinda Steel and Colena (George) Ruggles, both of Sandusky, and Sandy Gilliam and Jim (Heather) Marty, both of Tenn.; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Cindy Smith; brother, Paul Marty; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Selina; son, Nash; and sisters, Pat Fugitt and Susan Bush.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 27 until funeral services begin at 12 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to ProMedica Hospice, 430 S. Main St., Clyde, OH 43410.
