Franklin "Frank" D. Lowery Sr., 81, residing in Berlin Heights for the last 20 years, passed away Thursday evening, February 27, 2020 at Stein Hospice Care Center.
Frank was born on October 1, 1938 in Greeneville, TN to the late Dola and Daisy (Ivy) Lowery.
Frank was a Veteran of the US Air Force. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service. Frank was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Norwalk American Legion Post 41. He loved to work on antique cars, attending car shows and playing cards. Frank was a man with a big heart, and he loved being with his family and grandkids.
Frank is survived by his wife, Darlene M. (Linz) Lowery, whom he married on August 15, 1992. He is also survived by his sons, Franklin D. Lowery Jr. of Berlin Heights, Charles "Chuck" (Fiancée, Janice Vickery) Lowery of Anderson, SC and Lee Lowery of Huron; daughters, Jody (Charles) Wilson of Vermilion, Ada Jones of Norwalk, Tracey (Doug) Risner of Milan, Tricia (Randy) Patten of Castalia and Tricia (Chuck) Crawford of Sandusky; his special 32 grandkids; 55 great-grandkids; one great-great grandson; sister, Martha Scharder of Lynchburg, TN; brother, David (Elvira) Lowery of the Philippines; special nephew, Joe (Jennifer) Scharder of Lynchburg, TN; special travel buddy, Albert "Duck" (Donna) Brewer and their daughters, Teresa Brewer and Kelly (Mase) Brewer; his two favorite dogs, Charlie and Abby and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Lee Wightman in 1989; a sister in infancy, Lorraine Lowery and brother, Jay Lowery.
Friends may call on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also call on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Dr. Eric Bodenstab will officiate.
