Doris Marie Nichols, 76, of Bellevue, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Bellevue Hospital.
She was born in Jackson, MI to George and Marion (Brown) Kirby, who preceded her in death, along with her brothers, Boyd and Thomas Kirby. Doris was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, John C. Nichols.
Doris loved her family. Her goal was to live long enough to see her first great-grandchild. She lived to see three. Many in Bellevue knew her as "Oma." She was known to make costumes for the Bellevue Junior High School plays. She was also seen cheering on the sidelines at her grandchildren's sporting and band events.
Doris is survived by her children, Todd (Kaye) Baumgartner, Leigh Ann, and Kerry Kerstiens; grandchildren, Kera (KJ) Koch, Troy (Emily) Baumgartner, and John Kierstiens; great-grandchildren, Pirlo, Maclin, and Charlotte; mother-in-law, Dorothy (Nichols) Kadow; brothers-in-law, Corwin (Shirley) Nichols and Thomas (Joan) Nichols; sisters-in-law, Nancy and Barbara Kirby, and Dorothy Harp; step-sons, Clifford and Chad Nichols; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
At Doris' request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date for this spring/summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doris' name to Wags 4 Warriors, PO Box 41191, Brecksville, OH 44141.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Willows of Bellevue, the Bellevue Hospital, and Firelands Regional Medical Center for their care of their mother.
