June Rose Tueche Gorga, 95 of Warren, Ohio passed away peacefully on March 4, 2020 at Portland Place Assisted Living in Sandusky, Ohio after a brief illness.
She was born December 23, 1924 in Monessen, PA to the late Eli Tueche and Pauline "Lena" Kavulic Tueche.
June was born about twenty minutes after her identical twin sister, the late Jean Tueche Crawford with whom she was extremely close. Both were musical and played girls' sports in high school. They liked to share stories of how they could exchange places and fool others regarding their identity, sometimes even their eventual spouses and later their own young children. They were always "Jean-and-June" in the Tueche family.
June experienced hardship growing up in a family of ten during The Depression. She learned frugality, a strong work ethic and most importantly, the ability to share and consider others. Her family of origin was also the root of her great sense of humor and endless sense of rhythm.
June could not hear music without moving. She loved to dance and passed this down to her children and grandchildren. At age 95, June was still "feeling it" and earned the nickname "June Bug" by her care staff because of her jitterbug moves that she would happily perform.
June also had a beautiful voice and loved singing. A next-door neighbor once remarked that she looked forward to the days when the wind would blow in her direction and she could hear June singing while doing her housework. June also sang in a community choir and was a choir member for many years at St. Mark Lutheran Church where she was a member.
June had several different jobs including telephone operator before her marriage. In addition to raising her family, June worked as a bank teller for several years. She was very proud of her career as a U.S. Postal clerk which she enjoyed until her retirement.
June married William H. Gorga on October 7, 1950. The couple enjoyed bowling and golfing leagues as well as travelling together and with their family. June was widowed in 2015 after nearly 65 years of marriage.
June was always supportive of her family and was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She maintained that the best thing her children ever did was to find "perfect" spouses. She shared a passion for chocolate with her "second daughter" and a passion for baseball with her "second son."
June was fortunate to live with her daughter Nancy in Sandusky for several years. Her last few years included new friends and experiences in assisted living, culminating with her final days at Portland Place.
June is survived by her children, son, William "Bill" Robert (Barb) Gorga of Westerville, Ohio and daughter, Nancy Jean (Dale) Osbun of Sandusky; beloved grandchildren, Amy (Bill) Hauer, Danielle (Scott) Batchelder, and Brian (Wennie) Osbun; great grandchildren, Jacob and Adelyn Hauer; sister, Jennie Miller; brother-in-law, Lawrence Crawford; cousin by marriage, Joy Doersam; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, June was preceded in death by her sisters Delores (Fred) Watson, Jean (Larry)Crawford, Audrey Pounds, and Pauline Carrier and brothers William (Vera) Tueche and Eli "Junior" (Delma) Tueche.
A funeral service will be held at Champion Center Cemetery Chapel, 149 Center St. E., Warren, Ohio, at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 4, 2020. The family will receive guests at 10:30 am.
