Mae Christine Neill, age 95, of Vickery, passed away Wednesday evening, March 18, 2020, at Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky, following a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Bruce Neill and they shared 35 years of marriage together.
She was born May 16, 1924, in Cleveland. She was the daughter of Christine and Richard Treadon.
Mae was an accomplished musician playing the string bass, piano, and accordion at Cleveland Symphony Orchestra and in many other Cleveland bands. She was employed at the Cove Inn, Whites Landing, for many years. She was a member of the Congregation U.C.C., Castalia, and she enjoyed reading, sewing, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a caring mother and loving grandmother. She was known to everyone as "Gram"
She is survived by her children Bruce (Bonnie) Neill Jr., Janice Scherf, and Christine (Patrick) Cotner; grandchildren Bruce Neill III, Scott Neill, Frank (Jen) Neill, Beth (Steve Cooley) St. Clair, David (Shanny) Scherf, Betty (Tom) Kowalski, Janice Harris, Dannielle Sutherland, and Patrick Cotner Jr.; great grandchildren Cassidy, Scottie Jane, Brandon, Landon, Tiffany, Brendon, Olive, Christopher, David, Jacob, Kayla, Brittany, Bryan, Dylan, Devin, Maegen, Aiden, and Riley; great-great grandchildren Kaylee, Jared, Chance David, Chanel, Savannah, Anthony, and Olivia.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Neill Sr.; parents Richard and Christine (Koyan) Treadon; sister Jean Meek, brother in-law Floyd Meek, and son in-law David Scherf Sr.
Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the coronavirus, private family services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Pastor John Paputza will officiate and burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
