Mary Jane (Meckstroth) Ritter, 84, of Sandusky, died March 19, 2020 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky following a brief illness. She resided at The Commons of Providence.
She was born August 7, 1935, in Sandusky, Ohio.
Mary Jane graduated from Sandusky High School and earned her R.N. at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Upon graduation, she was a nurse in the pediatric medicine offices of Dr. Seiler and Dr. Lavender until she married James M. Ritter in 1959. Mary Jane was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Cedar Point Garden Club, and the Catawba Island Club. She was an avid Cleveland Indians baseball fan and watched every game.
Mary Jane is survived by two daughters, Mary Jane (Erik) Mills of Huron, Ohio, and Anne (John) Martin of Raleigh, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Mills, Erika Martin, Lindsay Martin, and Craig Martin.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents, Dr. Emil J. Meckstroth and Mary (West) Meckstroth; a brother, James Meckstroth; and sister, Joanne (Meckstroth) Schneider.
A private service for immediate family will be Saturday, March 21, 2020. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, Ohio. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
