Dorothy I. (Norton) Laws

Dorothy I. (Norton) Laws, 89, formerly of Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning, March 19, 2020 at the Arden Courts of Parma following a lengthy battle with Alzheimers.

Dorothy was born on August 3, 1930 in Marion, Indiana to the late Ross and Grace (Bieber) Norton.

Dorothy graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor's degree in education. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Rosary and Altar Society. Dorothy was also a member of the American Association of University Women and the Erie County Republican Women. She received the Providence Hospital Woman of Honor award for her contributions to the community.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, volunteering at the Cooke House, traveling and cheering for the Cleveland Indians.

Dorothy is survived by three children, Cheryl (Larry) Palidar of Broadview Heights, Mark (Ann) Laws of Maumee and Matt (Lisa) Laws of Cortland; daughter-in-law, Judy Laws of Avon; eight grandchildren, Andrew, John, Laura (Will), Ben, Mike, Maria, Megan and Lauren; 2 great-grandchildren, Dahlia May and Celeste Grace; sister-in-law, Carol Lindsley of Perryville, MD and several nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, James L. Laws, who passed away in 2014 and son, James A. Laws who passed away in 2015.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. A public Celebration of Life will be announced and held at a later date.
