Lonnie Parker, Jr., 84, Sandusky, died Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at his home.
He was born on September 14, 1935 in Clinton, Alabama to the late Lonnie and Selena (Caver) Parker, Sr.
Lonnie attended school in Alabama where he did odd jobs and shined shoes until he moved to New York where he pursued a singing career. After that he moved to Sandusky where he was employed by NASA, Davis-Besse, Scott Paper, Sandusky Plastics and finally retired from the Sandusky Ford plant where he worked as an electronic tech for thirty years.
Lonnie joined Ebenezer Baptist Church at age 20 and sang for years with the Golden Echoes from Alabama while he could.
He survived by his daughter, Lori Parker, Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audery Seavers Parker, in 1983, whom he married in 1959; son, Steven Parker, in 2020; brothers, Joe, Jack, John, Arthur, Henry, and Alonzo Lee; sisters, Mattie Parker, Selena "Polly" Pearson, and Neola Parker.
Private services will be held in his memory. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
