June Palmer Johnson, 91, of Sandusky, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 9, 2020 in Providence Care Center after a long and full life.
She was born on June 13, 1928 in Sandusky to the late Bernard Michael Palmer and the late Ada Mae (Lutes) Palmer.
June graduated from Sandusky High School, did graduate and undergraduate work at Bowling Green State University, and graduated from Mary Manse College in Toledo. June was an art teacher for Sandusky Public Schools for 32 years and for Maumee Valley Country Day School in Toledo for 2 years. Upon retirement, she served as an older worker specialist for WSOS in Erie County.
June was a former member of College Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Kiwanis of Sandusky. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, having served as an ordained elder and deacon. She was also a member of the Erie County Retired Teachers Association.
June is survived by several nieces and nephews around the country; as well as some dear, local friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Chris N. Johnson; brothers, William, Bernard, and Landon Palmer; and sister, Ruth Hunker.
Due to COVID-19 regulations, private graveside services will be held at Oakland Cemetery, with the Reverend Richard Henderson officiating.
