Evelyn Conway, 70, Sandusky, died Sunday, December 18, 2011.
She was born July 11, 1941 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. At the age of six months old, Evelyn's parents and siblings moved to Detroit, Michigan where she attended and graduated from Northern Public High School. She migrated to Sandusky in 1958 where she met and married the late Charles “Cricket” Conway. Evelyn worked various jobs in Sandusky, the last one being at Foster Grant before leaving to become a full-time caregiver.
She is survived by her daughters, Charlayne (Semon) Johnson and Chelissa Conway and a son, Craig Conway, all of Sandusky; sister, Dorothy Perry, Detroit, MI.; and special long-time friend, Lonnie Parker, Sandusky; and a host of other relatives and very close friends.
In addition to her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother, Girtha Davis Sumlin; her father Curtis Young; sister, Verdell Darby and brother, Alton Willie “Son” Coleman.
Friends may call from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church at 1920 Eddy Henry Way, Sandusky. Rev Curtis L. Johnson Jr. will officiate, and the Rev. Gregory Partridge will provide the eulogy. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
