Thomas J. LaRose, 90, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Monday morning, July 27, 2020, at Parkvue Health Care Center.
Tom was born on February 23, 1930, in Sandusky, Ohio, to the late Leonardo and Maria (Cirino) LaRose.
Tom graduated from Sandusky High School in 1948 and attended Ohio State University before joining the United States Army. He retired in 1988 as Vice President of the A&M division of Vulcan Materials Corp, formerly known as Aluminum and Magnesium, Inc. Tom was responsible for the procurement of raw materials for all operations of the A&M division throughout the United States. Tom was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, where he served many years as an usher at the 8:00 am Masses. He was also a long-time member of Plum Brook Country Club, the Sandusky Yacht Club, the former IAB Club, and the National Association of Secondary Material Industry. Tom loved the game of golf and the many friendships formed while playing a round of golf.
Tom is survived by his two daughters, Vicki Normandin of Tempe, AZ, and Peg LaRose of San Diego, CA; granddaughters, Anna and Leigh Normandin; son-in-law, Arthur Verbeckmoes of San Diego, CA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jean (Loffer) LaRose in 2002; sisters, Louise Snoble, Caetinna McGary, Josephine Laughlin and Betty DiSalvio, brothers, Peter LaRose and Salvatore "Tutti" LaRose.
A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky. Father Chris Jesudhason will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Those wishing to attend can do so virtually via Facebook live stream on the Groff Funeral Home Facebook page at 10:00 am Thursday morning, August 6, 2020.
