Steven Vladiff, 96, of Norwalk, and formerly of Sandusky, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Parkview Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born on May 25, 1915 in Bulgaria to the late Vladi and Kuna Vladeff. He was a veteran of the Civilian Conservation Corps and the United States Army, serving in World War II.
Steven was employed as the head chef at Providence Hospital for 25 years and also worked as a chef for a number of years at Martin's Restaurant.
He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Norwalk, the VFW, AMVETS, Moose Club, and spent much of his time at the Senior Center in Sandusky.
Steven is survived by sons, Michael (Pamela) Vladiff, Norwalk, Daniel (Mary Jo) Vladiff and David (Karan) Vladiff, both of Sandusky, Steven (Teresa of Monroeville) Vladiff, Castalia, and George (Carolyn) Abele Jr., Sandusky; daughters, Stephanie (Michael) Clipson, Vermilion, and Nancy (Michael) Pisarsky, Vickery; 21 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Siehl) Vladiff, whom he married on July 24, 1943; 2 daughters, Stephanie and Joyce (both in infancy); a grandson, David; a granddaughter, Jessica; a great-grandson, Peyton; and his brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 4-7 PM on Monday, December 26, 2011 in the Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be private on Tuesday, with the Rev. Frederick Wiechers of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. The American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard will provide military honors.
