Carolyn C. "Cat" Campbell

Carolyn C. "Cat" Campbell, 78, of Sandusky peacefully transitioned from earthly life on Monday morning, August 17, 2020 in the comfort of her home.

Carolyn was born September 29, 1941 to the late Ulysses Green Sr. and Estella (Woods) Johnson.

She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1959. Upon graduating she worked a few jobs before settling in at General Motors and retiring in 2001 after 34 years.

Carolyn was someone who could lighten the mood when she entered a room, as it was certain that she would have everyone bursting with laughter! She mastered the art of humor and was known for her quick wit, hilarious storytelling and entertaining those in her presence!

She was an avid bowler, bowling on several leagues with her late brother Clyde Green, enjoyed bingo and loved to hand dance especially with her favorite partner - her brother in law Cliff Russell. Carolyn had exquisite taste and enjoyed shopping, spending time with her family and the taste of delicious food.

Because she liked to stay on the move, after retirement, she held part time positions at Walmart, and Volunteers of America Crossroads working at the front desk.

"Cat" as her friends and family affectionately called her, would want everyone to rejoice in knowing that she knew the Lord, and that God extended his grace to her and she had accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior, so we rejoice knowing that she is in Heaven now.

Carolyn leaves her beloved family to cherish her memory; 2 sons, whom she loved deeply, Craig Campbell (Jennifer Prete), and Derick (Patricia) Campbell both of Sandusky, OH; sisters, Claudette (Freddie) White, Springfield, MA and Renee Johnson, Sandusky, OH; special sister-in-law and friend, Barbara Green, Sandusky, OH; brothers, Lee Henry (Elva) Johnson, Memphis, TN, Lamar (Betty) Johnson, Sandusky, OH and Julian (Lesa) Johnson SR. Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Marquicia, Ericka, Spencer, Cameron, and Derick Jr; great-grandchildren, Kemani, Amir, Londyn, Carma, Emma, King, Christopher, and Henry; lifelong, best friends, Louise Cunningham and Luberta Crosby; special niece, Tellie Russell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, John Booker Campbell Jr.; parents, Ulysses Green Sr., and Estella (Woods) Johnson; sisters, Ethel J. Roldan, and Harriett Russell; brothers, James Green in infancy; Clyde Green, and Ulysses H. Green Jr.

Friends may call 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for visitation Saturday, August 22, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., where funeral services will immediately follow. The Pastor Clayton E. Howard will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Groff Funeral Homes & Cremator is assisting the family with arrangements.

Due to COVID-19, the family is requesting that face mask coverings be worn, and please be aware that temperature checks will be done at the door.
