Lorrie S. Watkins, 63, passed into the arms of the angels on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Lorrie was born in Sandusky, March 8, 1957, to Max and Evalynn (Myers) Watkins.
She attended Monroeville Schools, graduating in 1975. Continuing her education at Bowling Green State University, she obtained her degree in special education and also completed her Master's degree. She taught special education at Monroeville Schools for 33 years and continued to substitute even after retirement. Each and every one of her students held a special place in her heart and teaching was her passion.
Her interests included sports, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. The beach was her happy place.
Lorrie will be deeply missed by Deb Andrews, lifelong friend, housemate and caregiver; her sisters, Dee Kuhlman and Missy Brewer; brother-in-law, Wes Brewer; nieces and nephews, Brad (Abby) Kuhlman, Keri (Matt) Scholz, Mitchell Brewer and Kaitlynn Brewer; great nieces and nephews Tate, Emery and Zoey Kuhlman, Jack and Brice Scholz; and many beloved friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, several aunts and uncles and her beloved dog Chewey.
At Lorrie's request, a private graveside service was held at Riverside Cemetery in Monroeville in celebration of her life. Rev. Dr. Wayne Chasney officiated.
