Winifred Close, 86, of Bellevue passed away Friday, December 23, 2011. She was born August 9, 1925, in Bellevue, the daughter of Charles and Leta (Baughman) Orwig. She married Willis Close on November 29, 1944 in Warrensburg, MO; He preceded her in death in 2006.
Winifred was a 1943 graduate of York Centralized High School, and was employed and retired from the J.C. Penny Catalog Department in Bellevue. She was a member of Four County Young at Heart and enjoyed crocheting, her I - Pad, gardening, cooking and being with her family.
She is survived by a son, Allen (Mary) Close of Park Forest, IL; a daughter, Patricia K. (Terry) Popa of Grand Rapids, MI; 10 grandchildren, Tracey (Rodger) Schoen of Bellevue, Dawn Edwards of Houston, TX, Chad Andrews of Austin, Texas, Heather Lines of Cleveland, Jeff Raymond of Bellevue Megan Almendinger of Houston, TX, Ashley Almendinger of Grand Rapids, MI, Andy (Deanna) Close, Matt Close, and Ben (Andrea) Close all of Chicago; 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
Winifred is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, Joanne Dymond, Yvonne Brown, and grandson Troy Andrews.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 11a.m. until a funeral service begins at 1 p.m. at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery, Huron.
