Melvin Smith, 87, Sandusky, died Monday, September 21, 2020, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on May 21, 1933 in Morgantown, WVA to the late James and Viola (Hendrix) Smith.
Melvin worked for Ford Motor Company for over 30 years retiring in 1993.
He loved golfing, playing in leagues at Mills Creek Golf Course and was proud of his hole-in-one.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Karen Ritter, Huron; ten grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Carpenter, Sandusky; several nieces and nephews; and a special thank you to his neighbors who looked out after him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanore "Bootsie" Smith in 2013; parents; daughters, Linda Smith and Shirley Smith; sisters, Betty James Trippett, Edith Hepner, and Barbara Anglin; brothers, Robert Smith, James Smith, and Frank Smith.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 24, 2020, from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Wally Gilbert will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
