Elinor "Mickie" Maxine Conyer

Elinor "Mickie" Maxine Conyer, 98, residing in Castalia, OH, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, September 20, 2020 at her home.

She was born on June 15, 1922, to Marion John and Maggie Belle (Brown) Mains in Belle Center, Ohio where she spent her childhood.

She moved to Sandusky where she worked at Stadium Diner (now Berardis) and later was employed by the former New Departure - Hyatt Division of General Motors until her retirement. It was there that she met Edward Conyer. Ed and Mickie married and moved to Castalia.

Mickie enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cross stitch, and crocheting. She made countless afghans and cross stitch pieces for family and friends alike. Mickie was famous for her fruitcake, date nut bars, and bonbons which she always made for her family at Christmas time. She bowled in leagues at both Bonnie and Cedar Lanes for several years.

She was fond of animals, especially dogs, and owned many over the years including Bucky, and Ole Bailey. She also loved horses. Mickie and her sister, Ronnie, and husband Ed frequented horse races. She never missed a Westminster Dog Show or a Kentucky Derby. Mickie loved spending time with her family. She was a very generous and supportive person.

Mickie is survived by her brother-in-law, Mel Conyer; nieces, Dianna (Randy) Miller, Sandusky, OH, Sharon (Scott) Swartz, Castalia, OH, Linda (Ed) Spayd, Kelley's Island, OH, Cathy Twining, Oberlin, OH, Mickie Nielson, Marblehead, OH, and Jackie Short; nephews, Jim (Keemie) Mains, Tiffin, OH, Tim (Kathy) Twining, Geneva, OH, and Russell Mains; many loving cousins, great nieces and nephews, and great- great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed Conyer; sisters, Verona (Andy) Chaplo and Kathleen (Ray) Twining; brothers, Jack (Muriel) Mains, William (Mary) Mains, and James (Rosa) Mains.

The family would like to thank the ladies of Companion Senior Care for taking such good care of Mickie this past year and a half.

There will be a private family viewing at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia, OH.
