Robert R. Arheit Sr.

Robert R. Arheit Sr., 76, residing in Castalia, passed away early Monday morning, October 5, 2020 at Parkvue Health Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Robert was born on September 2, 1944 in Norwalk, OH to the late Robert D. and Dorothy (Huber) Arheit.

Robert retired from the Ohio National Guard as a Major after 20 years and attended the Kentucky Military School. He was a past president and member of the Local #1216 and member of the Port Clinton Mason Lodge 341. Robert retired from the Sandusky Ford Motor Company after 45 years of service as an electrician and skilled trades representative. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outside, enjoying the farm, gambling, traveling, politics and spending time with his family and friends.

Robert is survived by his wife, Gail (Gilson) Arheit, whom he married on November 9, 1996. He is also survived by his daughter, Heidi Arheit of Milan; son, Robert R. Arheit Jr. of Sandusky; step-daughter, Germaine Keller of Castalia; 3 grandchildren, Angela Blake, Laura Heishman and Chelsea Brummitt; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Alexis Clyde of Berlin Heights and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by mother-in-law, Marjorie Geasland, whom passed away week ago.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Fire Chief,Kerry Jett and his team from Groton Township; Firelands Regional Medical Center; Stein Hospice; Parkvue Healthcare staff; Dr. Keller, Dr. Mast and Dr. Robinson and family, friends and neighbors for all their care, compassion, love and support.

Private family services will be held and conducted at a later date. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
