Joy Lorraine Sharkey, 62, residing in Malta, OH passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, October 17, 2020 in Orlando, FL.
Joy was born on October 23, 1957 in Lorain, OH to the late Robert Sharkey and Rita (McHugh) Sharkey-Mazza.
Joy had been employed at Double S Industries in her younger years. She spent over 30 years at Lucy Idol Day Program where she was surrounded by awesome caregivers and wonderful friends! She loved camping and being outside with people who loved her! She loved having her nails painted and was quite the fashionista with her hats and sunglasses!
Joy is survived by her sister, Judith Glaza of Toledo; brothers, John and Jerry all of Sandusky and Jay Sharkey of MI; step-sister, Linda Sprow of Sandusky; step-brother, Joel Mazza of Sandusky; her caregivers, Linda and Keith Beringo and their children and grandchildren of Malta Ohio who adored Joy and loved her very much.
In addition to her parents, Joy is preceded in death by her brothers, James and Jeffery Sharkey, her step-mother, Margie Sharkey and step-father, John Mazza.
Joy was adored my many and loved by all who knew her including her REM family!
Friends may call on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 11:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor Wally Gilbert will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
