Eugene "Sonny" Vaughn, 94, Sandusky, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011, in the Lutheran Memorial Home, after a brief illness.
He was born on March 9, 1917 in Alexander City, AL, and raised in Gadsden, AL.
Sonny was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WWII from 1943 to 1945.
Sonny and his wife of 65 years, Josephine, raised a family in Bay City, MI, spent his retirement years in Denver, CO, and chose to spend his final years near his grandchildren in Sandusky, OH.
He is survived his wife, Josephine; children, Diane Vaughn, Knoxville, TN, Gregory (Linda) Vaughn, Bloomfield Hills, MI, Crystal Vaughn, Clearwater, FL, Roland Vaughn, Denver, CO, and Gilbert (Pamela) Vaughn, Sandusky, OH; grandchildren, Taylor, Kelsey, and Carlee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Naomi Vaughn; sisters, Mildred Green, LaDelle Vaughn, Ruby Cain, and Gladys Vaughn.
A private family service will be conducted. Cards of sympathy may be sent to Josephine Vaughn, Lutheran Memorial Home, 795 Bardshar Rd., Sandusky, OH 44870. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Memorial Home, or to Heartland Hospice, 905 W. State St., Fremont, OH 43420.
